Porch Music
I'm sorry folks, but this little vignette tears me up. Porches & Pumps take me back over 50 years to my grand folks farm down near Leasburg, Missouri. Their 40 acres was about a half mile up a gravel road from route 66. I spent many hours swinging on the the front porch swing with my grandpa swattin' flies with the old wire mesh fly swatter. And ya, there was a pump in the back yard with a view from the farmhouse not unlike the one you see in this video. That's where I cleaned the sunfish I caught in the Roubideux creek.
Would you like to create some simple times with simple pleasures. Get a fiddle, guitar, banjo or some string instrument. Learn to play a little, find a friend to play with and go find a quiet place in the country when spring comes and camp out and create some of that "High Lonesome" sound.
