This is a great group of folks that camp at the same fork in the road up on Hippy Hill at Bean Blossom every Uncle Pen Days for the whole week, without fail. I was so happy to find them up jamming when I arrived last fall. I pulled into the camp after midnight, got my tent all setup in the rain and than proceeded over to where they had camped back in September of 2004. Sure enough they were up and jamming. Mike says you can count on them being right there, at the same location, every September. I think he said this was about their 6th or 7th straight year. Mike & Linda have their folks and other family members and friends join them each year. You can count on Doc Mussleman being their with his fiddle, mandolin, and an American flag Martin guitar. This group comes to Bean Blossom mostly to jam and make friends. You can count on a variety of music too - Haggard to Lynn to Jimmy Martin and everything in between. The first year I was jammin with them, Jimmy Martin came up and visited for awhile and this past fall Vince Combs stopped in for about an hour and chatted and sang with us. This is the type of environment you find at Bean Blossom.
Guys, I hope to see you there this June. A trip to Bean Blossom is just not the same without you. I plan on being there this June for the whole 9 days. Please let me and make sure I do a lot more video recording of your jams this year. I do have some audio that I haven't even gotten to. I believe I had the audio recorder running when Vince was there last fall.
