Krueger Brothers - Workin' On A Building
Taped by John Hotze
I don't believe I've enjoyed this song this much since I use to hear Bill Monroe perform it on the Opry back when it was still the Grand Ole Opry. I'm not sure if they found the lead singer back in the woods of NC but boy, he sure does sing.
I picture the Krueger boys, this old boy and Tut on a summer evening sittin' out in one of their back yards playin' this music. Tut hollers over "hey Jens, I missed one those notes, could you play that last stanza again". Then Uwe goes on his guitar - "da dum de dum de dum dum dum - was that the one Tut"? Maynard cuts loose with his "high lonesome" and you hear some dogs howlin' down a few houses. Tut lets loose a whine and yodel on the Dobro and we know all is well in NC.
