Browsing Tip - Did you know that you that you can right click on a selection, such as an index item, and choose to start the selection in a new window. This allows you to continue processing the first window while you are working in a new window. You need to watch that your new selection doesn't have audio that may play at the same time an audio is already playing. Sounds terrible when it happens.
Browsing Tip - If a page happens to have a scroll bar at the bottom of the page and you have your task bar set to hide, it invariably will pop up and make it difficult to move the scroll arrow. You can use your arrow keys instead to scroll left & right.
Browsing Tip - When you have a very visual site such as this one, it is helpful to put your browser in the full screen mode. This can usually be accomplished by pressing the F11 key. Sometimes you need to put your arrow over the window & left click it first before the the F11 key is effective.
Browsing Tip - Another trick you might try once in awhile when you are coming up with unexpected results is to press the refresh icon or the F5 key. You may need to put your arrow over the window & left click it first before the F5 will do a refresh.
eBay Auction Tips - I have purchased several items from the John Hartford & Grand Ole Opry auctions on eBay and have learned several things that I want to pass along in case you wind up wanting to purchase something on eBay.
First I wanted to let you know that all though it is perfectly legal, I consider it a little unscrupulous to let items auction off on eBay for a lot more than they could be purchased retail. After doing some searching and not finding a retailer, I purchased an item for over $40 on eBay, that I found a retail outlet shortly afterwards, selling the identical item new for $25. Do some upfront research to try and locate a retail outlet if the product you are thinking of bidding seems like something that may still be found at a retail outlet on the Internet or otherwise.
Another thing I found out about while trying to win the bid on a product is that most of the serious bidding occurs in the last few minutes before the auction closes on a product. It is best to make a note of the exact closing time for the product, than log onto eBay around 10 or 15 minutes prior to the close. Be prepared, even in the last minute to place a bid. You must refresh your display quite often in these last minutes to make sure that you haven't been outbid.
Another thing I've learned about bidding on eBay is that it is best to keep in mind the absolute highest amount that you want to go on a product. I know you can get emotional during the heated last few minutes and go higher but the reason is this. If the highest you are planning to go is higher than the high bid is during those last couple of minutes, it would pay you to go ahead and place your highest amount. Even if it is $20 higher than the present winning bid, and the bidding stops before your highest bid is reached, you will still only have to pay the cost of where the bidding stopped.
I plan to reserve a section on this website that will provide names and addresses of hard to find CDs, LPs, VHS tapes, & DVD's relating to the music of John Hartford, Old Time Sting Band, Bluegrass, & Grand Ole Opry. I will provide links if they have a website. I will also provide links to musicians and bands that are in this genre of music and have a website. Please feel free to send some of your secrets to me. I will be sure and credit you with the information.
I am adding some links here that will be helpful in finding CDs, VHS tapes, & DVD's that sometimes or difficult to locate. Many of these locations have stock on products that get auctioned off on EBay at a much higher cost.
