I feel David presents a breath of fresh air in this age of modern country and bluegrass music. This CD took me on a trip back to a sound I haven't heard much during the past forty five years or so. He can bring the sound of an old Monroe or Flatt & Scruggs as well as touching on the feel of a Carl Smith tune. I swear if I could hear the audience clapping or Louie Buck announcing Prince Albert, I would think I was tuned into the Opry back in 1955.

Here are some songs from David Long & friends Midnight From Memphis CD - fall 2002. I would definitely recommend adding this one to your collection. I'm sure it's going to be the first in a long line from this young and talented artist. I found him via a link off of Chris Sharp's website. Incidentally, look for a new CD from Chris out pretty soon with David working with him. David is presently touring with another one of John's former string band members, Mike Compton.
